Estimating microscale DE parameters of brittle adhesive joints using genetic expression programming

Particle-based model has strength and flexibility in modelling the microstructures of adhesives interface adhesive joints. In this work, a procedure with genetic expression programming (GEP) technique to calibrate microscale parameters discrete element (DE) was proposed for brittle adhesives. Two categories properties, bulk property thick interlaminar-like thin adhesive, were discussed. For property, three target properties adhesives, i.e. tensile strength, peak strain, secant modulus, set as reproduced features. 300 sets adjustable produced run numerical tests generate datasets. GEP then employed find regression formulas predicting function parameters. fracture energies cohesive failure approximated. A similar combined DE performed models estimate energy.
